Ampthill is a small market town in Bedfordshire. For a town of our size we have a rich history that is just waiting to be discovered. Henry III granted a Royal charter for the market in 1219 and renewed in 1242. Henry VIII was a regular visitor to the castle and its associated hunting grounds. Queen Katherine of Aragon was resident in the castle while awaiting the annulment of her marriage to Henry.
